Passengers were left surprised to see the Uber India chief Prabhjeet Singh as their cab driver and took to social media platforms to share about their pleasant experience. Uber users from Gurgaon and Delhi were stunned to know that their Uber cab was driven by none other than Uber’s India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh.
One of the customers took to LinkedIn and wrote a post in which she claimed that she suspected something fishy when she entered the cab and Googled the name of her Uber driver. The Uber chief is an IIT Kharagpur and IIM Ahmedabad Alumnus who was doing a research to understand some of the grassroots level issues faced by the cab drivers and the passengers.
Many netizens appreciated the humility and dedication shown by Mr. Prabhjeet Singh to understand the platform’s issues. Mr. Prabhjeet Singh was appointed as Uber’s India and South Asia President back in 2020. Back during his appointment, Uber had said that he would “oversee the next phase of growth of its mobility business and ensure the safety of riders and drivers across India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh”, as reported by MoneyControl.
The Facts of the Matter
We have all heard of the story of Mughal emperor Akbar who took to the streets as a commoner to understand the issues of his empire’s subjects in a more granular level. Recently, the chief of technology company Uber also went through a similar undertaking when he himself became the driver of several passengers from North India. These passengers were shocked beyond belief, and later took to social media to share their experience.
