A woman in Delhi was recently arrested for abducting a 2-month-old baby & trying to ‘sacrifice’ the infant to ‘revive’ her own father. Thanks to the cop’s timely intervention, the baby was rescued just in time. The blood-curdling incident was reported from South East Delhi’s Kailash area and occurred earlier on Saturday this week. The accused has been identified as Shweta, who was later revealed to be involved in burglary and robbery.

According to reports, the accused pretended to be working for jaccha-baccha care, and introduced herself to be an NGO member. She promised free medicine and consultation, and followed the accused and her 2-month-old to the newborn’s place.

Earlier this week on Wednesday, she came to the family’s residence again, and on the pretext of taking the infant out on an outing, left with it. The infant’s niece accompanied the woman, and was offered a drink, consuming which she got unconscious.

A complaint was filed in the matter, and the cops were able to trace the woman down 24 hours into the incident.

After the woman was arrested, she revealed that her father died earlier this October. She got to know that if she sacrificed an infant of the same gender, it could ‘revive’ her father.

The Facts of the Matter

A grieving mind often turns to superstition, and a person possessing such a brain can go to lengths to somehow alleviate their grief. In one such incident, a superstitious woman in Delhi was arrested for abducting, and attempting to sacrifice an infant in a desperate bid to ‘revive’ her recently dead father. The accused was identified as Shweta.

Pretending to be Member of NGO

Reportedly, the accused Shweta met the infant’s mother at the Safdarjung Hospital, and introduced herself as a NGO member, working for the betterment of the mother-infant duos. On the pretext of providing the mother with free medicines and consultancy, the woman started talking to her, and visited her multiple times at the hospital.

Winning Infant’s Mother’s Confidence

Shweta won the woman’s confidence, and went as far as going to the family’s home in Delhi’s Garhi area on the pretext of a check-up. On Thursday, Shweta again came to the family’s home, and gave the baby a check-up. She then convinced the infant’s mother to let her take the baby out for a small outing in her car.

Drugging Infant’s Niece, Abducting Infant

The infant’s mother asked the infant’s 21-year-old niece to accompany the accused. In the car, the accused offered Shweta a cold drink, consuming which, she got unconscious. Later, the 21-year-old family relative of the infant was dumped in Ghaziabad.

Somehow, the 21-year-old gained consciousness, and informed her family that the infant was kidnapped. A complaint was subsequently filed, and an investigation was filed in the matter. The cops received a tip-off on Thursday, that the woman would come near the Arya Samaj Mandir.

Cops Receive Input, Woman Nabbed

Based on the input, the cops raided the spot, and were able to nab the accused. The infant was also recovered in the nick of time, and handed to his mother. The cops then took the accused woman Shweta in questioning, and she gave shocking truths about the matter.

The Infant Sacrifice Angle

During questioning, Shweta mentioned that her father died earlier in October and she got to know that if she would ‘sacrifice’ an infant of the same gender, her father would ‘revive’ and come back to life. Shweta put her plan in motion, and started looking for an infant boy she could abduct.

She visited Safdarjung Hospital’s maternity ward, and was able to win the confidence of the infant’s mother by pretending to be an NGO worker.
