In Jabalpur, doctors from Indore, Gwalior and other cities of Madhya Pradesh clashed at an IMA conclave over lengthy welcome speech. The video of the incident shows doctors and other attendees of the conclave creating a ruckus and raining kicks and punches at one another. Following the incident, high-ranking members of the association sat and discussed the ordeal, which eventually ended in them making amends.

As per reports, the clash broke out among the doctors at the conclave after former IMA president of Jabalpur chapter, Dr Amarendra Pandey was giving a welcome speech. As the lengthy speech continued, members of IMA chapter Gwalior and Jabalpur clashed. Initially the doctors verbally abused other attendees of the conclave.

As the ruckus escalated, some doctors barged on the stage, and manhandled Dr Amarendra Pandey. An ANI report quoted IMA State President, Dr RK Pathak saying, “During the meeting, the IMA president of the Jabalpur branch was delivering the welcome speech. In the meantime, a few representatives present there got agitated about his welcome speech and they reached the stage. They had a dispute and then had manhandled Jabalpur IMA president.”

Dr Pathak further mentioned that such an incident would not occur again, and a committee will be formed to probe and take action accordingly.

The Facts of the Matter

“Doctor’s conclave”, the term may make one imagine a group of highly-trained professionals sitting and discussing the state of medical world and how it could be made better. However, at a conclave in Jabalpur, the same doctors were seen raining punches, kicks and blows at one another. The entire ordeal occurred due to lengthy welcome speech, a Daink Bhaskar report confirmed.

The incident occurred earlier on Sunday with video of the clash making rounds on social media.

What Does the Video Show?

The video of the incident shows a person on the podium, looking animated and shouting loudly at other attendees of the conclave. The ruckus escalates as a few men barges on the stage and starts debating with the person on stage. Soon, all hell breaks loose as doctors at the conclave attack each other and can be seen shoving and punching each other. Some men are also seen trying to intervene and break the clash.

After the incident, newly elected Jabalpur IMA President, Dr Abhijit Bishnoi spoke to media and mentioned that the fight broke out due to a welcome speech. As per the IMA President, the former IMA Jabalpur President Dr Amarendra Pandey was giving a speech when doctors from IMA Gwalior started having a verbal dispute from the other side of the stage.

What Caused the Ruckus

IMA State President Dr RK Pathak spoke to ANI and was quoted saying, “During the meeting, the IMA president of the Jabalpur branch was delivering the welcome speech. Amends Made

Dr RK Pathak further called the incident “very sad”, and something which will not be repeated in future. He added that after the dispute, the members of IMA discussed about the entire incident, made amends, and discussed how if anyone’s at fault, they are apologetic for the same.

Committee Formed to Probe Incident

“We will make sure on behalf of the IMA Madhya Pradesh branch that such an incident should not happen again. A committee will be formed to investigate the matter and action will be taken accordingly,” Dr Pathak further said, as per an ANI report.
