Bengaluru experienced massive traffic jams across the city on Wednesday evening, with vehicles stuck on roads for hours. While commuters suffered, a heartwarming moment emerged of Domino’s delivery agents going the extra mile to fulfill food orders.
Traffic Chaos Across Bengaluru
On September 27, Bengaluru saw unprecedented traffic congestion, especially on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) tech corridor. With vehicles crawling at a snail’s pace, commutes that normally take 30 minutes stretched to over 5 hours for many citizens.
The traffic jam impacted thousands of office goers trying to return home in the evening. School buses carrying children also got caught in the mess, with some students only reaching home as late as 9 pm.
The situation was so severe that the traffic police had to issue an advisory asking IT companies to delay staff logouts. Some attendees of comedian Trevor Noah’s live show in the city even attempted to resell their tickets, unable to reach the venue on time.

Domino’s Steps Up Delivery Service
While social media was flooded with complaints about the traffic, a video emerged showing Domino’s delivery agents going beyond their call of duty. Two executives were seen tracking a customer’s live location and then personally walking up to their car stuck in traffic to hand over food orders.
The video shared on Twitter by user @Rishivaths quickly went viral, with many praising Domino’s commitment to timely delivery despite the road conditions. Some users highlighted the efforts made by delivery personnel in navigating congested roads and fulfilling customer expectations daily.
When we decided to order from @dominos during the Bangalore choke. They were kind enough to track our live location (a few metres away from our random location added in the traffic) and deliver to us in the traffic jam. #Bengaluru #bengalurutraffic #bangaloretraffic pic.twitter.com/stnFDh2cHz

Reasons Behind the Massive Gridlock
According to traffic officials, the number of vehicles on Bengaluru’s roads on Wednesday evening was nearly double the daily average. Heavy rains in the past two days coupled with a citywide strike called by farmers and pro-Kannada groups led to the perfect storm.
With over 200 protesters detained by police for violating prohibitory orders, the bandh disrupted public transport services. This led to a huge volume of private vehicles on the road, leading to bottlenecks across arterial roads and junctions.
The massive traffic jam across Bengaluru on Wednesday highlights the need for better urban planning and investment in public transport to make the city more livable. However, the civic awareness and problem-solving capability shown by Domino’s gives hope that citizens can still find ways to help each other, even in trying conditions.
