Amid everyday concerns building over Artificial Intelligence, billionaire tech mogul has opened up about creating something called ‘TruthGPT’, and has called it ‘the best path to safety’. The claim comes at a time when artificial intelligence and ChatGPT are slowly transforming from buzz words to words that are being used in everyday parlance.

Elon Musk has announced his plans to launch ‘TruthGPT,’ an AI platform to compete with Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. Musk criticized these companies for not prioritizing maximum truth-seeking in their AI offerings. He accused Microsoft-backed OpenAI of becoming “closed source” and “for-profit” and “closely allied with Microsoft.”

Musk’s TruthGPT aims to understand the nature of the universe and become the “best path to safety” that is “unlikely to annihilate humans.” This move comes after Musk and a group of AI experts called for a six-month pause in developing systems more powerful than OpenAI’s newly launched GPT-4.

Musk has long voiced concerns about the destructive power of AI, worrying its utility function “could be something that’s detrimental to humanity.” He co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but stepped down from the company’s board in 2018 due to conflicts with Tesla’s competition for the same talent and disagreement with some of OpenAI’s team’s objectives.

The Facts of the Matter

Elon Musk, the tech industry’s most vocal and controversial figure, has never shied away from speaking his mind on topics he feels strongly about. From his ambitious plans to colonize Mars to his outspoken concerns about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence, Musk has always been a trailblazer who challenges the status quo.

With his latest announcement of the launch of ‘TruthGPT,’ an AI platform set to take on the likes of Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI, Musk is once again shaking up the tech world and cementing his reputation as a maverick who is not afraid to take on the biggest players in the game.

“Going to start TruthGPT”

The real-world equivalent of Marvel’s Tony Stark, Elon Musk recently gave an interview to Tucker Carlson where he spilled the beans on his approach towards AI.

“I’m going to start something which I call TruthGPT or a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe,” Musk said, adding, “I think this might be the best path to safety in the sense that an AI that cares about understanding the universe is unlikely to annihilate humans because we are an interesting part of the universe.”

On Concerns of Destructive Powers of Ai

Musk also expressed concerns about the destructive power of AI, warning that it has the potential for civilizational destruction and could even manipulate public opinion. He also compared an AI’s supposed lack

of desire to destroy humanity to the way humans strive to protect chimpanzees, which is ironic given his company Neuralink’s controversial treatment of the animals.

Elon Musk Called for AI Development Pause Recently

Interestingly enough, the newest claim came weeks after Musk co-signed an open letter urging labs to take at least a six-month pause in AI development due to “profound risks” to society from increasingly capable AI engines.

It’s also worth noting that Musk himself co-founded OpenAI in 2015 before stepping down from the company’s board in 2018, citing disagreements with the team’s direction and competing priorities with Tesla and SpaceX.
