In a hilarious co-incidence, a fan who put up ‘If Hardik hits 50, I’ll resign from my job’, banner was shocked beyond belief when the GT captain actually ended up hitting his first half-century of the IPL 2022.
Playing first the Gujarat Titans did not get a good start against the Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier yesterday. It was Hardik Pandya, the Gujarat Titans captain who proved his mettle once again to score 50 off 42 deliveries. As Pandya lifted his bat to acknowledge the applause he was receiving, the cameraman captured a fan and his unique banner.
Thanks to Hardik Pandya’s half-century, the fan now stands to be unemployed, if he is true to his words. The Pandya fan and his banner soon went viral all-over social media with many netizens making some hilarious remarks about the banner and the fact that the man may be jobless due to Pandya’s half-century.
Meanwhile, in the game Sunrisers Hyderabad registered its second consecutive victory, defeating the Gujarat Titans by 8 wickets.
The Facts of the Matter
If players play cricket, fans make the game what it is. From doing a coordinated Mexican Wave, to standing in unison to applaud a rare achievement, gasping loudly every time a wicket falls, fans add the much-needed enthusiasm and sass in the sport.
Another way fans make the sport great is through witty, hilarious and often heartwarming banners. To get their 5-seconds-of fame, fans hold huge banners and try to catch the attention of the cameraman, and the players.

GT Fan’s Banner that May Have Cost him his Job
Recently, a fan watching the Sunrisers Hyderabad VS Gujarat Titans IPL match got more than what he bargained for. It so happened that the man was carrying a banner that read – “If Hardik hits 50, I’ll resign from my job”.
And if one looks at Hardik’s last few performances in IPL, they would be right to assume that the man had no chance to lose his jobs. Prior to Sunrisers Hyderabad, Hardik played against Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants with an average of 30.3 and average strike rate of strike rate of 127.55.

Pandya’s Last Performances Made Man’s “Will Quit Job” Bet a Safe One
Maybe it was his last few underwhelming performances, or the image of the banner projecting on the big screen at the stadium, Hardik Pandya actually ended up hitting the half-century, and in the end, the poor fan now stands to lose his job.
Playing first, Gujarat Titans had a poor start and they lost the wicket of Shubhman Gill cheaply. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowling unit to prove its prowess and soon Matthew Wade and Sai Sudharsan also departed, leaving the team whimpering at 64/3 in 8 overs.
How Pandya Steadied the GT Boat and hit his half Century
However, Titans skipper Hardik Pandya and David Miller both steadied the boat of their team and took the team past the score of hundred. As the overs progressed, Pandya found his rhythm and looked more comfortable on the pitch.
Although his inning had only 4 boundaries and one maximum, he did end up putting the half-century score on the board. As Pandya lifted his bat to acknowledge the appreciation of his fans and his teammates, the camera panned on a fan sitting in the stands with a confused look on his fan. It was the same fan who had a banner that read – “If Hardik hits 50, I’ll resign from my job”.
