In a shocking news from Kerala, a 35-year-old woman was held for drugging her husband for the period of six years after the husband’s business turned profitable. The incident was reported from Kottayam, Pala in Kerala and the accused was identified as Asha Suresh. Meanwhile, the victim was identified as 38-year-old Satheesh.
Reportedly, the accused woman also took the help of her eldest daughter, a class 7th student, in her crime. She convinced her daughter that the drugs were meant to “cure” her husband from his violent behaviour. Asha had filed a harassment complaint against her husband earlier.
It should be noted that the motive of the wife has not been ascertained as of yet, but according to reports, her own mother had a history of doing something similar with her father.
The Facts of the Matter
We have read of reports of spouses showing their partner their violent side and taking their lives in the most gruesome of manners. A majority of these reports show that the crime was not as premeditated and was committed in the fraction of seconds due to a fit of rage or anger. However, there are times when a person is pushed to their eventual over the course of years by drugging them and making them helpless.
Recently, a woman from Kottayam’s Pala was held for committing a similar crime. According to reports, the woman spiked her husband’s food and water with drugs that are often used to treat serious mental illness. She continued her act for a period of about six years. She may have continued till the bitter end, had her husband not smelled something fishy going on around him.

Couple Got Married in 2006 – Quarrels Followed
The woman, identified as Asha lived with her husband Satheesh in Pala. Reportedly, the couple got married back in 2006. Since the beginning of their marriage, Satheesh alleged that her wife used to pick quarrels on the most trivial subjects. Further, Satheesh was also struggling with his business in the initial years of his marriage.
Husband’s Health Worsens as Ice-Cream Business Turns Profitable
However, his fate changed for good when he entered into the ice-cream business. The couple soon purchased their own home in 2012 in Palakkad. Meanwhile, Satheesh’s health worsened after his business picked up. He started feeling exhausted and felt fatigued most of the time. In his complaint, he also added that he felt sleepy after having food.
He soon took to the doctor who suggested that low sugar might be the reason. The doctor also prescribed Satheesh some medicines. However, despite taking medications, his health didn’t improve. In September 2021, Satheesh observed something strange.
Husband’s Health Improves after Avoiding Food
The husband observed that when he avoided having food at his home, his condition drastically improved. Acting on his suspicion, Satheesh decided to conduct a probe on his own. With his friend’s help, he soon realized that his wife was drugging his food and water with drugs used to treat mental illness. He came to find out that her wife had started drugging his daily diet since 2015.
Satheesh also caught her wife drugging his food from CCTV set up in his home. Soon, he took to the district police chief and filed a complaint. In his complaint he had added the CCTV footage and the picture of the drugs that were added in his food.
Raid Conducted, Wife Arrested
Acting on the complaint, the district police chief instructed the Pala Deputy Superintendent of Police to take cognizance into the matter. Soon, the SP along with his team conducted a raid at Asha and Satheesh’s home. The police found the drugs that were mentioned in Satheesh’s complaint and arrested the accused.
According to reports, the couple have two daughters, with the eldest one being in the 7th standard. Reportedly, Asha used her eldest daughter and with her help mixed the drugs in the water that Suresh used to take to his office. Asha lied to her daughter and claimed that the medicine that was used against her husband was meant to cure his ‘violent’ disposition.
