In Kerala, a 60-year-old daily wager set the internet on fire after being spotted by a fashion photographer and getting a makeover for a subsequent photoshoot. The man was identified as Mammikka, a Kozhikode resident. Earlier fashion photographer Shareek Vayalil had spotted a unique modeling talent in Mr. Mammikka.
To do a small experiment, Mr. Shareek shared a picture of Mammkka on his social media platform and found people lauding his ease during modeling and his physical appearance, which is much akin to actor Vinayakan.
When Shareek got a new assignment, he instantly remembered Mammikka and chose him as a model. Dressed in a suit and holding an iPad, Mammika has already set the internet ablaze. Owing to his recent popularity, he has his own Instagram page now.
The Facts of the Matter
Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, Sony TV’s popular soap opera from early 2000s, showed a plain looking Jassi’s life turn upside down after she receives a makeover. While we are all told to not judge a book by its cover, we often make judgements about who a person is based on how they appear. However, with one simple makeover, the opinions can change instantly.
A simple example of the above-mentioned idea is Mr. Mammikka. A daily wager from Kozhikode, Mammikka was spotted by a fashion photographer Shareek Vayalil. Shareek reportedly spotted Mammikka while he was about his day-to-day activities.
Fashion Photographer Chooses Daily Wager as Muse
Shareek took a few pictures of Mammikka and shared it on his Instagram page. The picture instantly went viral with netizens comparing Mammikka to actor Vinayakan. After the post went viral, Shareek decided to do a photoshoot and use Mammikka as a model for a wedding suit brand.
For the photoshoot, Shareek gave the daily wager-turned-model a swanky makeover, and made him wear stylish sunglass and dressed him in a blazer.
On his Instagram profile, Shareek shared a video which captured Mammikka’s makeover process and the shoot that subsequently happened.

Watch the Classic Before-After Video
In the classic before-after video, Mammika can be first seen carrying vegetables, and the next frame captures him stepping down a flight of stairs with swagger and panache. He’s also seen working on a laptop and holding an iPad.

Known for wearing a faded lungi and shirt, Mammikka’s makeover has made him a local celebrity. Locals have been pleasantly surprised at how effortlessly Mammikka poses for the camera and the ease with which he displays the stylish outfits.

Appreciation by People from Far-Flung Places
Meanwhile, fashion photographer Shareek spoke to India Express where he claimed that after Mammikka’s video went viral, people from far-flung places have congratulated him. He added that the video went viral beyond what he expected and for the photoshoot, he has received overwhelmingly positive responses.

Shareek Vayalil is the proud owner of Shk digital, a photography studio in Koduvally. Moreover, he is also the manager and owner of a wedding suit store. In his interview, he further noted that usually his friends and relatives are used as model for the billboard advertisements. “This time, we chose Mammika and Majnas, a local salon owner,” he added.
Mammikka Has an Instagram Page, Will Continue Modeling
With all the love and appreciation, Mammikka has now forayed into social media and has an Instagram page. With already over one thousand followers, the daily wager is reported to be happy with the love and the virality he has achieved. According to an India Today report, he will continue to model if he gets offers, but won’t quit his regular job.
