Larry Ellison, currently world’s 7th richest man, was recently pulled over for speeding his Corvette on a Hawaiian island he owns. In the video gone viral, Ellison was asked why he was speeding his vehicle, to which he replies that he wanted to reach his home to have dinner with his family. When the billionaire failed to provide license and registration papers, the officer who pulled him issued him a citation.
The reason I stopped you is you ran through the stop sign and you were kind of speeding there,” the patrol officer can be heard telling Ellison, who was sitting in his orange coloured Corvette. I was trying to get home for dinner with my kids but there’s no excuse. There’s no good excuse,” Ellison replied when asked as to why he was speeding.
The incident took place at Lanai island in Hawaii. Over a decade ago, Larry sparked a debate on colonialism when he purchased over 98% of the island’s properties for $300 million.
Meanwhile, local leaders praised the patrol officer for doing his job.
“To have one of our own police officers actually treat him like an equal just as everyone should be treated equally under the eyes of the law — I’m proud to say, ‘Nice job, MPD’,” Gabe Johnson, a Maui city council member said.
The Facts of the Matter

“The reason I stopped you is you ran through the stop sign and you were kind of speeding there,” the officer says.
The 78-year-old billionaire keeps his calm and politely replies, “If I was, I’m sorry,” adding, “I was trying to get home for dinner with my kids but there’s no excuse. There’s no good excuse.”
The patrol officer then asks Ellison to produce his license, registration and insurance. The billionaire, pulled for speeding on his own island rummages to look for his belongings, and then tells the officer that he does not have his license on him.
