In an interview, Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah spoke about the recent Haridwar Conclave row and claimed that Mughals left lasting culture in India. “200 million of us are going to fight back”, the Ishqiya actor said. Shah’s statement came after Hindu leader Yati Narsinghanand led a conclave in Haridwar. The conclave received massive pushback after videos of hundreds of people raising calls to attack minorities and kill them surfaced on social media. Hateful statements such as, “If you want to finish them off, then kill them. We need 100 soldiers who can kill 20 lakh of them to win this” were made in the conclave called ‘Dharm Sansad’.
Background
Several leaders known for their fiery speeches attended the Dharm Sansad conclave at Haridwar from December 17-20. The conclave was organized by polarizing Hindu figure Yati Narasimhanand Giri who belongs to the Juna Akhada. Videos snippets of some of the speeches by popular Hindutva leader went instantly viral and sparked outrage amid netizens who labelled them as ‘hate speeches.
The provocative speeches included the assassination of former Indian PM Manmohan Singh akin to Godse assassinating Mahatma Gandhi, a call to be prepared to kill minorities and get killed, invocation to buy arms to carry out the acts, etc.
After the speeches went viral and sparked outrage, the Uttarakhand Police registered cases against many involved people under Section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the IPC.
No arrests have been made so far.

Prolific actor Naseeruddin Shah is once again making buzz for his statements on the state of affairs in India. The ‘A Wednesday’ actor recently gave an interview to The Wire, where he spoke about the recently concluded Dharm Sansad and his feelings regarding the same. It should be noted that earlier, he was under scanner for sending a strong worded message to Indian Muslims who were celebrating the return of Taliban in Afghanistan.
“200 Million of Us Are Going to Fight Back”
When asked about his thoughts on the provocative statements made by Hindutva leader at the Dharam Sansad, Shah said that Muslims will fight if they will be forced to. “What they are calling for is a full-scale civil war. 200 million of us are not going to be wiped out that easily. 200 million of us are going to fight back.”
He further added, “200 million of us claim this to be our motherland. 200 million of us belong here. We were born here, generations of our families have lived here and died here. And I am certain that if any such moment begins, it’s going to be met with massive resistance and massive amount of anger.

Mughals Left Lasting Culture in India
The 71-year-old thespian further shared his thoughts on Mughals and how Mughals are brought in the speeches of Hindutva leaders. “The so called atrocities of Mughals are being highlighted all the time. They forget that the Mughals were people who contributed to this country. Mughals are people who have left with lasting monuments, lasting history, lasting culture.”

PM Modi “Doesn’t Care”. Apology on Farmer’s Law ‘Insincere”
When asked about his thoughts on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence over the provocative speeches made during the ‘Dharm Sansad’, Shah claimed that the PM doesn’t care. He also added, that the PM never apologized after revoking the farmer’s laws. “He half-heartedly apologized for the kisan but it was an insincere apology”.
