In an incident that shows the true meaning of unity in power, passengers of a train pushed the engine compartment away to avert tragedy after the train caught fire. The incident was reported earlier today near the Daurala railway station near Meerut. The train was reportedly going from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh to Delhi.
A fire somehow broke out and two compartments were set ablaze due to the mishap. To avoid any possible mishaps, and to make sure that the engine compartment, and the remaining compartments do not catch fire, the collective strength of the passengers was put to a good use.
A video shared by ANI showed passengers trying with their might to somehow separate the remaining compartments from the engine and the two burning compartments. So far, no casualty has been reported due to the incident.
The Facts of the Matter
A fire was reported to have broken out in the engine and two other compartments of a passenger train near the Darula railway station near Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. After the incident, Y.K Jha, Traffic Inspector, Indian Railways, was quoted by reports saying, “Cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. No injuries or casualties have been reported”. The train was reportedly traveling from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh to Delhi and was numbered 04460.

Sparks Were Reported, Passengers Sent in Mail Train
A Times Now report quoted Divisional Railway Manager Dimpy Garg saying, “Train departed from Saharanpur and near Daurala we received information of sparks in the train. Fire broke out in 4th motor coach. Blazing coach was separated from rest of the train and traffic was stopped in the section. Passengers were sent in next mail train.”
Video Shows Strength in Unity
In a video that is a testament to strength in unity , passengers aboard the train can be seen pushing the train to separate the remaining compartments from the burning compartments and the engine compartment. The passengers’ effort to make sure the safe compartments were separated from the burning compartment could have very well prevented a tragedy.

Severe Halts and Service Disruption Reported
Meanwhile, due to the fire, the services have been affected on the Delhi-Meerut railway line. Several trains every day are slated to travel from Delhi to Dehradun via Meerut, including the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express.
Due to the fire, the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express, the Shalimar Express, the Nauchandi Express, suffered halts. Meanwhile, other trains that were near the Muzaffarnagar Khatauli Station were also stopped.
The Shtabdi Express that runs from Dehradun and Delhi had a halt of 1 hour and 43 minutes at the station and was later diverted towards Dehradun. The Meerut to Muzaffarnagar trains started a little later at 10.30 AM and trains coming from Muzaffarnagar to Meerut have not started as of yet.
