A Florida man recently blamed the Russian President after he was caught speeding. “Putin Made me Do It”, the man told the police officer in a desperate and hilarious bid to not get a speeding ticket.
The hilarious incident was brought to light after the Flagier County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook released a bodycam footage in which a man claimed that he was actually driving past the speeding limit to reach home and catch the developments regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis.
“The truth is: I just found out that Putin says he is going to launch thermonuclear war. I was trying to get back to my house to find out what is going on. I’m freaking out here. I got people in Ukraine,” the man was quoted explaining to the police officer after he was stopped. The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media with several netizens coming up with equally hilarious reactions.
The Facts of the Matter
Remember the first and second wave of COVID-19 which killed hundreds of thousands of people. Back then, people tried making the best out of the worst, and used the pandemic as an excuse for their wildest of actions.
Whenever a world-wide event occurs that affects the lives of millions of its inhabitants directly or indirectly, there are people who use the events as excuse to get out of situation or get involved in them, as per their convenience.
Recently, a man in Florida was caught speeding by a police officer. When asked as to why he was driving in such a rush, the man said that it was none other than Russian President Vladimir Putin who made him do it.
The incident was captured on camera, visuals of which were shared by the Facebook page of Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
In the bodycam footage, a police officer can be heard asking a man, “Do you know the reason I stopped you? How fast do you think you were going?”. The driver guesses that he was driving somewhere in the 40-mph speed. To this the officer told the driver of speeding vehicle that he was driving at the speed of 50 in a 30-mph zone.
Driver Gives Excuse Number 1
This is when things started getting interesting. The man started throwing a bunch of excuses to somehow get out of the situation. He first told the officer that he was “looking at this thing”, the car’s dashboard, and trying to get the car out of the Sports Mode.

Excuse Number 2
When the police officer told the man that he saw him running the stop, the man made another desperate excuse. “I saw a car coming and I wanted to get out before them”, the man tried. The police officer then asks the man to hand over the license and registration of his vehicle.

As he hands over the documents, he tries to bring out the final and the most hilarious excuse to get away for speeding. “The truth is: I just found out that Putin says he is going to launch thermonuclear war.
