In a heart-wrenching incident reported from Rajasthan, a drug addict died by suicide after killing his parents and his two sons. The deceased also tried to kill his brother’s wife, who survived the ordeal. The incident was reported from Pilwan village of Lohawat block of Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, and occurred earlier on Friday this week. A case has been registered and an investigation is on.
The deceased in the matter have been identified as 38-year-old Shankar Lal who attacked his father Sonaram with an axe. Sonaram later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Shankar also axed his mother Champa and 14-year-old son Lakshman. He threw their bodies in a water tank near their house.
Out on a killing spree, Shankar then threw his 8-year-old son Dinesh into the tank as well. Shankar then traveled to his maternal uncle’s home and died due to suicide by jumping into a water tank. Shankar reportedly gave sleeping pills to his family members after they had worked on the farm.
He told them that as they had worked very hard on the farm, they needed to sleep better, and handed them the pills in order for them to get a good sleep.
Shankar also gave the pill to his brother’s wife, who somehow survived the ordeal.

The menace of drug abuse goes far and deep across the nation. While the anti-drugs agency is waging a war on the abuse, Indians in states like Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, continue to have their lives ruined by getting trapped in the vicious cycle of abuse.
In one such incident, a drug addict in Rajasthan recently killed his parents and his two sons, and later killed himself by jumping in a water tank. The incident was reported from Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district and occurred in Pilwan village on Friday.
Deceased Gave Family Sleeping Pills
Circle officer of Lohawat Police Badri Prasad, the deceased was identified as 35-year-old Shankar Lal. On Friday, Shankar reached his home, and handed his family sleeping pills. He told his family that as they had worked hard on the farm all day, they needed a good night’s sleep, which the pills would help with.
As per circle officer Prasad, Shankar first attacked his 65-year-old father Sonaram who was sleeping with an axe, and fled the scene of crime. He then reached his home, and attacked his 55-year-old mother Champa with an axe, along with his 14-year-old Son.

Dumping Bodies in Tank, Jumping in Tank to End Life
He then dumped their chopped-up bodies in a water tank near the house. The killing spree didn’t end here, as Shankar then grabbed his 8-year-old son Dinesh and threw him in a water tank as well. Shankar then went all the way to his maternal uncle’s home, and took his own life by jumping in another water tank.
Father Succumbs to Injuries
The 55-year-old father of the deceased was later rushed to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, Shankar’s brother’s wife spoke to media where she said that Shankar gave sleeping pills to his family members, including her.

How Brother’s Wife Survived the Killing Spree?
However, she had taken the pills and went to a room to sleep by the side of her children. As she locked the room, she somehow survived the shocking killing spree the drug addict was on, which eventually ended with him taking his own life.
