Not all superheroes wear capes, some wear sarees! The recent video of a 62-year-old Kerala superwoman trekking the 6,129ft Agasthyarkoodam is a prime example for the same. For the unversed the Agasthyarkoodam Peak is the second-highest peak in Kerala that’s part of the treacherous and unforgiving Sahyadri mountain range. The 62-year-old woman was identified as Nagaratnamma and belongs from Bengaluru. In the viral video of her trek, she can be seen using a rope to climb the hill in an effortless manner that has astounded netizens. The video was shared on Instagram by a man named Vishnu and showed Nagaratnamma climbing the hill with her son and his friends.

Will is everything.” A 62-year-old woman in Kerala recently epitomized this quote after a video of her trekking the second highest peak in Kerala made the rounds of the internet.

Breaking the shackles of stereotypes that surround women and elderly both, 62-yer-old Nagaratnamma has proven that adventure knows no age, and age itself is just a number. Hailing from Bengaluru, Mrs. Nagaratnamma reportedly climbed the Agasthyarkoodam with her son and his friends. She climbed the summited the challenging peak while wearing saree, making her achievement all the more impressive and inspiring.

Fulfilling Dreams 40-Years After Marriage

The video of her climbing the peak was shared by an Instagram user named Vishnu. In the video gone viral, she can be seen climbing the highest peak of Sahyadri mountain range with in an effortless manner. With the help of a rope, the saree clad 72-year-old woman can be seen having a graceful smile on her face.

Her journey was explained in the caption of the Instagram video shared by Vishnu. The caption read – “This is her first trip outside Karnataka. She said for the last 40 yrs after her marriage she had been busy with family responsibilities. Now since her children have all grown up and settled, she can pursue her dreams.”

“Nobody could match her enthusiasm and energy. It was one of the most motivating and enriching experiences for all those who watched her climb,” the caption further read.

Netizens React to Elderly Woman Summiting Agasthyarkoodam Peak

The video of Mrs. Nagaratnamma climbing the Kerala peak has received overwhelmingly positive response from Instagram users.

“Incredible! Hats off.. may you inspire many more,” an commented a person with the username hemanth_shriyan. “More power to you! Live long!” another Instagram user commented. Other netizens dropped the heart emoji in the comments section to extend their love and appreciation.

Women Were Once Prohibited to Trek Agasthyarkoodam

For the unversed, Agasthyarkoodam was not allowed to be trekked by women till 2018. Further, children under the age of 14 were also prohibited to trek to the peak, owing to the challenging terrain. However, the Kerala HC in 2018 squashed the gender-based restrictions and stated that such restrictions can’t be imposed on women who wanted to trek the hill.
