Recently, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan revealed that he has been diagnosed with Vestibular Hypofunction, a condition where he revealed his balance just went off. The actor mentioned that despite being diagnosed by the condition, he pushed himself hard. The actor’s new bombshell revelation came during the India Today Conclave 2022.

“I had this thing called vestibular hypofunction, (where) basically your balance goes off. But I just pushed myself so hard. We are just running in this race, nobody is asking why. I think there is a greater purpose (why) we are all here. I am trying to find mine, and hopefully, people will find theirs,” the actor was quoted saying.

The actor also spoke in detail about the pandemic and its immediate aftermath people felt, including him. “The minute we opened doors, don’t you think we went back to the same rat race? How many people here can say that they have changed? I see people working even harder! In fact, I started pushing so much harder (with) my film Jug Jugg Jeeyo, it felt like I was running for an election. I don’t know why, but I put so much pressure on myself,” he was quoted saying.

For the unversed vestibular hypofunction is when the inner part of ear which helps in one keeping their balance, doesn’t function properly.

The Facts of the Matter

While celebrities may appear to lead a life filled with glamour and richness, often they are riddled with diseases, disorders and complexities that any other common man may be dealing with. Recently, popular Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan spoke at a conclave where he mentioned being diagnosed with vestibular hypofunction.

The actor’s shocking revelation came when he appeared at India Today Conclave 2022, where he spoke about his journey, his work ethic that changed after the pandemic, and of course, dealing with vestibular hypofunction.

“I just shut down..”

“Recently, I just shut down. I didn’t know what had happened to me. I had this thing called vestibular hypofunction, (where) basically your balance goes off. But I just pushed myself so hard… We are just running in this race, nobody is asking why,” Varun said, adding that there’s a greater purpose as to why we are all in the world. “I am trying to find mine, and hopefully, people will find theirs” he said.

Being Part of Rat Race Post Pandemic

The actor also spoke in length about how the pandemic and its immediate aftermath altered his work ethic. The ‘Badlapur’ actor mentioned that he pushed himself really hard for his film Jug Jugg Jeeyo, as if he was “running for an election”, and added that he put a lot of pressure on himself.

What is Vestibular Hypofunction?

Vestibular hypofunction is a balance disorder, where a person experiences vertigo and dizziness due to a lack of feeling balance. The vestibular system is in place in one’s inner ear, and sends signals from eyes and muscles from brain to keep the body balanced. When it doesn’t work, the brain receives error signals and one experiences a sense of dizziness and struggle to walk in dark rooms or busy places.
