The woman who jumped off the Akshardham Metro Station earlier this week has reportedly died, succumbing to her injuries. The video of the 25-year-old woman trying to be rescued by the CISF personnel was earlier going viral on Twitter with initial reports stating that the CISF’s prompt response in trying to rescue the woman saved her from getting grievously injured.
In the video gone viral, the CISF personnel can be seen trying to convince the woman from the edge of a parapet of the Akshardham Metro Station. Ignoring the pleas of the CISF personnel, the woman jumps from the terrace and falls on a blanket being stretched by the CISF staff and metro personnel present.
The woman was soon rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for treatment. According to an India Today report, the woman had suffered injuries in her light legs, however was conscious till evening of April`3. Later in the evening, she was reported to have succumbed to her injuries.
Reportedly, the woman was a Hoshiarpur, Punjab resident and was working in Gurugram, Haryana.
The Facts of the Matter
Chaos ensued at the New Delhi’s Akshardham metro station earlier on Thursday when a woman was spotted at the edge of the metro station’s parapet. The woman was initially reported to be rescued by CISF personnel who acted promptly and made sure that the woman falls on a blanket stretched out. However, hours after the incident it was reported that the woman ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

Chaos Ensues at Akshardham Metro Station
It all happened earlier on Friday when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) staffer spotted the woman at the parapet and alerted his shift head. The CISF personnel reached the spot and tried to persuade the woman. The entire ordeal of the CISF personnel trying to convince the woman to step away from the terrace edge was caught on cam, visuals of which are now going viral.
The woman, was standing on the metro parapet at around 7.30 in the morning. The CISF personnel in the video of their rescue attempt are heard saying, “Madam, please this side madam, madam please listen, please”.

Second Team had Arranged Blanket on Ground to Catch Woman
Meanwhile, the shift-in-charge had reportedly already informed the line-in-charge, metro control, who immediately alerted the local police and an ambulance. While the CISF personnel were trying to talk the woman out of jumping from the metro, a second team went to the ground and arranged a blanket, in case the woman actually ends up jumping.
Things took a turn for worse when despite all the possible convincing, the woman jumped off the edge. The CISF team beneath the edge was already out there and had the blanket stretched to catch her. She was caught and was initially reported to be conscious.
Woman was Rushed to Hospital, Succumbed to Injuries
The woman, a Hoshiarpur resident, was reportedly rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for further treatment. It was initially discovered that the woman had suffered minor injuries to her light leg. However, later on Thursday evening, it was reported that the woman had succumbed to her injuries.

Woman Lost Her Job: Reports
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Metro Jitendra Mani was quoted in an India.com report saying, “A girl who had jumped off Akshardham Metro station has now succumbed to her injuries. She was a resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, worked in Haryana’s Gurugram, and had quit her job recently.”
It should be noted that there are some reports that have speculated that the woman was fired from her job, and thus took the grave step.
