Recently, the world’s longest car ‘American Dream’ broke its own record of being the longest car in the world. The car has a helipad, a swimming pool, and a mini golf course. It is about 30.54 meters (100ft and 1.50 in) long, and broke its own record that was registered in 1986 by a small margin.

To put the enormity of the long car into perspective, it must be noted that must cars are about 12-16 feet long. So, if we take 14 uber-compact Tata Nanos, and park them in a straight line, the American Dream would still be longer than that. The world’s longest car is based on the 1976 line of Cadillac Eldorado limousine and was first built by famous car customizer Jay Ohrberg back in 1986 in California.

Interestingly, the American Dream can be driven from both the sides. It was built in two different sections that were joined in the middle by a hinge. The car, which houses swimming pool, mini golf course, and other fascinating features, can house as many as 75 people at the same time.

The Facts of the Matter

If we tell you, think about the “longest car in the world”, you most likely will be imagining a customized limousine that is several times the size of a standard stretch limousine. You would also imagine the vehicle to be able to pack more than just a handful of people, and will be thinking of luxurious compartments that can take care of the owner’s needs, from entertainment, to relaxation.

What if we tell you that whatever you may have imagined, is true, and there’s a lot more that you may not have imagined. Meet American Dream, the longest car in the world. At about 100ft long, the car has the room for 75 people at the same time.

The History of World’s Longest Car

The longest car in the world held the same title earlier and recently broke its own record after restoration. The 100ft long ride was restored over the years by a group of restoration junkies that was led by Miami-based Michael Dezer. It was first built by a California based customizer and stood at a glorious 60ft back in 1986.

The American Dream is based on the 1976 Cadillac Eldorado limousines. Back in 1986, it had 26 wheels and was powered by two mighty V8 engines that were in front and rear. The car was later extended to about 30.5 meters (100ft). After restoration, the car now stands at 100ft and 1.50in, breaking its own record by a small margin.

Helipad, Pool, Jacuzzi, Mini-Golf Course

As if this was not enough, the car restorers took about two years to restore the vehicle and has packed it with all the luxuries one can think of having in a vehicle. The over 100ft long vehicle features a large waterbed, a swimming pool with a diving board, a jacuzzi, a bathtub, a mini-golf course, and of course, a helipad.

“Land Helicopter, Putt Balls, Take a Swim”

The helipad is not just a gimmick. The car designers spoke to the folks at Guinness World Records and told them that the helipad will be able to hold a weight up to five thousand pounds. “We have a putting green here, so you can come in and land your helicopter, putt some balls and then go for a swim.” said Michael Manning, a member of the team who restored American Dream.
