In a heartbreaking incident, an Andhra Pradesh boy reportedly slept near his mother’s lifeless body for 4 days thinking she was asleep. The incident was reported from Vidyanagar, Tirupati. The 10-year-old boy, identified as Shyam Kishore is a class 5 student while the deceased woman was identified as 41-year-old Rajya Lakshmi, a private school teacher.

Reportedly, the deceased woman was staying separately from her husband for the last four years with her son due to a dispute with the husband. According to a New Indian Express report, the boy had informed his uncle to take his mother to hospital as she had been “sleeping” for the last four days.

The boy’s uncle, Durga Prasad, rushed to the boy’s home and immediately sensed a foul smell in the air. When he saw Rajya Lakshmi’s body he was shocked to see that it had already started decomposing.

Preliminary postmortem report stated that the woman’s death was a natural one and the body displayed no external or internal injuries.

The Facts of the Matter

A gut-wrenching incident was reported from Vidyanagar, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh where a 4-year-old boy was reported to have stayed with his mother’s dead body for four days, assuming she was fast asleep. The 4-year-old boy, identified as Shyam Kishor was later revealed to be suffering from a form of mild mental retardation. The incident was brought to light when the boy alerted his uncle about his mother not waking from her deep slumber after four days of sleep.

Boy Slept Next to Mother’s Lifeless Body

The 4-year-old boy Shyam Kishor reportedly kept with his daily activities like having bath, dressing himself, going to school, eating, assuming his mother was fast asleep. Shockingly, the young boy also slept next to his mother’s lifeless corpse on the assumption. Shyam Kishor’s mother was identified as 41-year-old Rajya Lakshmi, a school teacher in private school.

According to reports, the incident came into light after the young boy’s uncle called him on Friday asking about his and his mother’s well-being. This was when the class 5 student told his uncle that he should come home and take his mother to hospital as she had not woken up from her sleep since the past four days.

Boy’s Uncle Found Mother’s Body Decomposing

The boy’s uncle, Durga Prasad, rushed to the house of his nephew and smelled a foul smell and was shocked to see Rajya Lakshmi lying dead. Reportedly, the body of the deceased woman had already started decomposing by then.

Mother had Completed PhD, had Complained of Headache

Reportedly, the boy’s uncle had known about Rajya Lakshmi’s travel. The deceased woman was to go to Belagavi to get her PhD degree which she had recently finished. The deceased woman had also told her brother that she had been suffering with persistent headache since quite some time and was scheduled to consult a doctor after returning from Belgavi.

Boy & Mother Lived Separately, Mother’s Husband in Vijayawada

An India Today report quoted the family’s neighbour saying, ’When we asked the boy about the death, he said that his mother vomited on March 8 and had been sleeping since then”. The boy and his now-deceased mother lived in a leased apartment. According to reports, the deceased woman was living separately from her husband for four years after a dispute. The husband is a Vijayawada resident.

Boy Suffers from Mental Retardation

According to Durga Prasad, 4-year-old Shyam Kishor suffers from a mild form of mental retardation due to which he doesn’t talk to many people and stays aloof. The body was rushed to postmortem, the reports of which stated that there were no external or internal injuries endured by the woman. Doctors who performed the post-mortem, confirmed that Rajya Lakshmi died naturally.
