In Gwalior, a 28-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman recently submitted documents to get into a relationship, proving that age is just a number. The youth has been identified as Bholu while the elderly woman has been identified as Ramkali.
The incident was reported from Morena district, Madhya Pradesh. According to a Free Press report, the couple took the legal route to validate their relationship as they didn’t want any future disputes. Reportedly, the unique couple took to the local court and had their live-in relationship notarized and had their documents recognized legally.
Although live-in relationship is a relatively modern concept, even couples from relatively smaller cities are now adapting to the phenomenon. 28-year-old Bholu and her 67-year-old live-in partner Ramkali is one such couple. According to a ABP report, Ramkali’s husband passed away and he and Bholu are both not looking to get married.

Their unique decision has been making buzz lately with people appreciating their efforts to cut through the stigma that’s usually spread around such matters.
The Curious Case of Live-in Relationships in India
For the unversed, a live-in relationship between adults is not considered illegal in India anymore. Further, if the couple continue to stay together in such an arrangement for a long time while presenting themselves in the society as a couple, their relationship is considered “in the nature of a marriage” under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, 2005.

However, due to random disputes that are often raised by third-parties, couples tend to go an extra mile to have their relationship legalized. 67-year-old Ramkali and her 28-year-old live in partner Bholu took a similar decision lately, and turned heads.

Advocate Explains the Couple’s Unique Decision
According to advocate Dilip Awasthi, the couple are residents of Morena district and reside in Kailras locality. After falling in love, the couple realized that they don’t want to get married. However, they wanted to live together and to formally have their relationship legalized, they took to the district court and notarized their relationship.
The advocate also claimed that the couple will now be able to live together legally and in case of any disputes or debates in future, the written notary will be considered legal. Advocate Awasthi said that often when a couple decides to stay together, they get involved in several differences start arising.
Further, when such an age difference is in a particular case, often ego drives the partners and matters can often go till police station. This is why often such couples have their relationship notarized. However, the advocate added that there’s no legal requirement of such a document.

Ramkali is a Widow, Found Support in Bholu
According to an ABP report, Ramkali had no support in her life after her husband’s demise. It was at this time that Bholu became a support for her. Meanwhile, Bholu, according to the same report, didn’t clearly gave an answer when he was asked about the huge age gap between him and his elderly live-in partner.
