In a heartwarming development, generous netizens on Twitter recently came together to raise money for a Zomato delivery partner who had lost his job as a teacher due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The incident was brought to light by a Twitter user named Aditya Sharma who narrated the account of how a delivery executive Durga Meena delivered his food in scorching heat of Rajasthan on a bicycle.
Aditya narrated how he asked Meena about his life and found out that he was a teacher before the pandemic but had to start a new chapter in his life as a delivery executive. In a series of tweets, Aditya explained how Durga was in a need of a motorcycle which would help him make more deliveries.
The Twitter thread went viral with many netizens lauding Durga Meenaβs efforts. Meanwhile, Aditya Sharma started a fund raiser to get Durga Meena the motorcycle he wants.
Soon, good samaritans on Twitter started posting screenshots of the money they sent to Aditya Sharma for his good-hearted gestures. Just hours later, Aditya announced that the fund-raiser was closed and the required money already being collected.
The Facts of the Matter
Often Twitter can be a toxic and dark place with people making lewd, objectionable comments against someone with a different religion, caste, gender or socio-economic background. But itβs the same platform that also makes a common Indian into an overnight celebrity. Take the examples of Bachpan ka Pyar fame Sahdev Dirdo, or Ranu Mondal. From nowhere, they became part of the Trendingβs section on Twitter. This in-turn helped them achieve stardom and financial assistance.
Recently a similar instance of Twitter being a life-changing portal for a hard-working person emerged.
Recently, a Twitter user named Aditya Sharma shared how he received his Zomato delivery from a man who traveled several kilometers on a bicycle under the scorching Rajasthan sun.
βToday my order got delivered to me on time and to my surprise, this time the delivery boy was on a bicycle. today my city temperature is around 42 Β°C in this scorching heat of Rajasthan he delivered my order on time,β Sharmaβs tweet read.
