The Facts of the Matter

Months after a secret tunnel from the British-era was found underneath the Delhi Assembly premises, a new discovery has startled people. An execution room from the same era has emerged from the premises from the national capital’s assembly.

According to ANI report, the Assembly building was constructed in 1912. It was the same year when Delhi was renounced as the national capital from Calcutta. Between 1913 to 1926, Central Legislative Assembly was housed in the building.

Britishers Used Building to Hold Trials for Revolutionaries

After 1926, the building wasn’t made use of for a while. After a few years, the Britishers used the building as a court. This court was used to hold trials of revolutionaries and those found guilty were sent to the execution gallows discovered recently. These revolutionaries, according to Assembly Speaker Mr. Goel, were brought from the iconic Red Fort via a tunnel.
