In a surprising incident caught on cam, a dog chilling on a road got attacked by a leopard. However, to the surprise of the leopard, the dog stood its ground and had a full-on confrontation with the big cat. Although the video ended before the confrontation between the big cat and doggo ended, the surprised look on the leopard’s face tells us that the dog lived to tell the tale.
The video was shared on Twitter earlier on February 17 by IAS officer Awanish Sharan and gradually got viral with as many as over one lakh views so far.
With the video, an apt caption was put which read – Haalat kitne bhi mushkil ho, atmavishwaas banakar rakhiye (No matter how difficult the situation is, be confident). On the video several netizens remarked that the leopard was not hungry or it would have been aggressive and unforgiving towards the dog.
The Facts of the Matter
“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog”. When push comes to shove, often the giants are humbled by Lilliputians and often, young David can beat the humongous Goliath. While this is true for humans, it is often seen being proved in the animal world as well. In the animal kingdom, usually the larger animals prey on the smaller ones. But every once in a while, it’s the small ones that surprise their hunters and survive to tell the tale.
Recently, a video of a dog standing up to a leopard is making waves on microblogging platform Twitter. The undated and unverified video appears to be captured at a wildlife sanctuary by a traveler or a wildlife expert who was at the location when the feud transpired.

What Does the Video Show?
In the video gone viral, one can see the dog relaxing on the road without a worry about the world. However, it soon receives the shock of its life when a leopard comes out of nowhere and attacks it.
In most situations one would expect the dog to run away with its tail between its legs. However, the dog decides to stand its ground and a full-on standoff ensues.
Throughout the standoff the dog maintains a safe distance from the leopard, while barking incessantly at the big cat. The leopard looks visibly startled at the unexpected fight the dog is giving it and it locks its eyes and looks for an opportunity to attack.

Netizens React to Dog Standing Up to Leopard
As mentioned earlier, the video has been viewed over one lakh times on microblogging platform Twitter. With so many views, it’s no surprise that a lot of netizens reacted to the ordeal. While some appreciated the dog for standing up to the leopard and not losing hope, others pointed out as to why the leopard let the dog be.
A netizen pointed out that if the leopard was hungry, it would not have shown the mercy and would’ve been way more aggressive.
If that leopard had been hungry it would have been MORE aggressive than this. https://t.co/WuvKoDfrB0

A Twitter user made an interesting remark, stating that the dog’s presence in the national park must be debated and questioned. “What lack of lacunae! The debate here needs to be the presence of the dog in the forested area. Not ought to encourage it through sharing these videos as some sort of motivation.”
