In a strange incident, dead fish rained down from the sky in a bizarre weather phenomenon in US city. The incident was reported from Texas, USA. While the incident may sound strange or even apocalyptic to the unversed, it should be noted that the incident comes under ‘animal rain’ phenomenon. In animal rain, creatures such as fish, crabs, frogs are swept off by a water-spout and thrown miles away, making it appear like an ‘animal rain’. The incident was reported earlier on December 29 at Texarkana, Texas.
Back in 2017, a similar incident was reported from California where several fish fell from the sky and landed on the ground of an elementary school where the kids were playing.

Imagine yourself in the 1600s. The times are peaceful and social media is still hundreds of years away. There’s no way you can Google something weird, and anything strange is accounted to God’s grace or God’s rage.
Imagine yourself walking on the empty streets with puddles being the only remnants of the thunderstorm of earlier night. In one of the puddles, you see a dead fish. And as you wake further, you see dead fish at several spots. You alert the village and as there’s no meteorological department, the high priest is consulted.
The priest claims that the thunderstorm, and the dead fish that followed, are evidences of an angry God. Panic spreads like wildfire, and fear among villagers is surging.
Horrific, isn’t it? Thankfully, we are living in a time and age when advancements in meteorology have led to a curb in misinformation spread, and more awareness. Recently, a town in US also witnessed dead fish raining upon it, a phenomenon called ‘animal rain’.

The Facebook page of City of Texarkana shared a post that is going viral all around the internet. The reason – Fish Rain. Yes, you read it right. “2021 is pulling out all the tricks … including raining fish in Texarkana today. And no, this isn’t a joke,” the post read with a picture of a dead fish with it. Fish rain is part of a phenomenon called ‘animal rain’. What’s animal rain? We’ll find out.

What is an ‘Animal Rain’?
As per the Facebook post, Animal Rain is a phenomenon “that occurs when small water animals like frogs, crabs, and small fish are swept up in waterspouts or drafts that occur on the surface of the earth.”
Reportedly, the rain lasted only for a few minutes. But thanks to social media, several Texas residents shared pictures of dead fish around them and shared their experience of witnessing the rain. While some claimed the fish to have landed on their backyards, others claimed parking lots to be riddled with the dead fish.
Witness Gives Account of ‘Fish Rain’
A news outlet named People quoted a resident who gave his account of the phenomenon\.”There was a loud crack of thunder, and when we opened up the bay door, I looked outside, and it was raining real hard, and a fish hit the ground, and then I said, ‘It’s raining fish!’ … fish were droppin’ here and everywhere,” Audirsch told the outlet.
With all that transpired in 2021, Texarkana locals aren’t too thrilled to witness anymore ‘fascinating’ events. “Please, for the sake of everyone, let’s tiptoe into 2022 as quietly as possible,” read the Facebook post.

Thousands of Dead Frogs Rained Down in Siberia in 2005
It should be noted that several such incidents have been reported across the world. Back in 2005, Siberian citizens were astonished with thousands of dead frogs rained down after strong winds carried them to a town called Odzaci.
