In a shocking incident, Jozef B, infamously known as ‘Europe’s Joe Exotic’, was recently eaten by his lions during a routine feeding-session, at his own permit-less zoo that he owned. Jozef B, a 56-year-old zoo owner, residing at Oskerda, Slovakia, met a gruesome fate during a routine feeding session with the lions earlier on Tuesday.
The incident, which unfolded on a fateful Tuesday, left authorities baffled and onlookers horrified as only fragments of Jozef’s body remained at the scene.
Although Jozef possessed a permit to breed these majestic yet dangerous creatures, it was discovered that the permit had expired back in 2019 and had not been renewed prior to his ill-fated encounter. Shockingly, this would prove to be a fatal oversight for Jozef.
Locals, who were familiar with Jozef’s behavior, spoke of his arrogance and lack of respect towards the animals under his care. Allegations of animal abuse and the provision of deplorable living conditions were leveled against him, tarnishing his reputation further.
Peter, a resident of the area, expressed his disdain, stating, “He was very arrogant, he didn’t know how to behave, he abused the animals, and they had very bad conditions.”
Realizing that Jozef had fallen victim to the very creatures he had purportedly nurtured since their infancy, the police made the harrowing decision to euthanize two of the lions.
The Facts of the Matter
In a haunting echo of the infamous Joe Exotic’s tumultuous legacy, Jozef B, known as Europe’s own Joe Exotic, suffered a fate that bore striking similarities to the man who captivated the world’s attention. The enigmatic owner of a small zoo in Oskerda, Slovakia, met a gruesome end at the hands of the very lions he had once claimed to tame.

Lion Cage Becomes Graveyard
Like Joe Exotic, Jozef held a permit to breed wild animals, a permit that had expired in 2019 and remained neglected. Undeterred by the constraints of legality, Jozef ventured into the lion enclosure during a feeding ritual, that turned dark very soon. The very cage that he owned, became his graveyard, and the very lions he possessed, turned into his a medium of his own death.
Stories of Arrogance Spills Out
Whispers of Jozef’s audacity, arrogance, and a penchant for abusive treatment of the animals he purported to protect were also covered by the media. Peter, a witness, shared tales of abuse, neglect, and wretched conditions endured by the captive creatures.
“He was very arrogant, he didn’t know how to behave, he abused the animals and they had very bad conditions,” Peter was quoted saying.
Not First Such Incident
In 2019, a young woman found herself injured while petting a tiger within the confines of Jozef’s establishment. Just as Joe Exotic had once downplayed the risks of his realm, Jozef brushed off the concerns defiantly declaring that no threat loomed over his establishment. But fate, relentless in its pursuit, had other plans.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they were confronted with a horrifying spectacle. Realizing that Jozef had fallen victim to the very creatures he had purportedly nurtured since their infancy, the police made the harrowing decision to euthanize two of the lions. The discovery of Jozef’s dismembered remains left no room for doubt about the deadly encounter that had unfolded within the confines of the zoo.

Deceased was Fined for Noncompliance
The tragic turn of events began when Jozef’s concerned family notified the authorities after he failed to return from one of his routine feeding sessions.
In 2021, during the last inspection of the zoo, Jozef had been fined €2,000 (£1,470) for undisclosed reasons, hinting at a pattern of noncompliance and disregard for regulations.
