After failing to get a dentist’s appointment for over 15 years, a UK-based man ended up pulling out his own teeth. To see through the entire painful ordeal, the man downed a few cans of beer, went through with pulling the teeth, and then took Ibuprofen to manage the pain.

The man’s actions were covered in a Yorkshire Live report. A Leeds resident, 50-year-old David Sergeant was quoted in the report saying, “I’ve been pulling my own teeth out. I can’t get an NHS dentist, for ten or 15 years. I’ve tried referrals from the doctors and there’s nowhere that will take me.”

Talking to the news outlet, David said that he waits for the tooth to be loosen up, and then himself loosens it up till the point he can pull it out himself. “I have used plyers in the past, like big ones, but most of the time I just use my fingers,” he added.

Anyone who may have teeth-related troubles would know that an action like this can be incredibly painful. Explaining his “process”, David said he downs a few beers, gets himself Ibuprofen and then yanks out the teeth.

The Facts of the Matter

Getting a doctor’s appointment can often be a headache. Often the medical practitioner can only give you the time when you’re busy, or is busy with appointments when you have some time to spare. In such situations, many people resort to home-remedies that may do more damage to them in the long-run than the main issue itself.

Using Beers, Ibuprofen to Mitigate the Pain

To manage and mitigate the pain, David downs a couple of beers, gets ibuprofen (an over-the-counter pain management drug), and starts yanking out his teeth. He first waits for the teeth to get loosened up itself, then uses his fingers to slowly loosen it, and then pry it out.

David in his interview admitted that the entire ordeal “doesn’t feel very good”, and said that he is made to pull out his own teeth when it should be a medically qualified person looking after him.
