Spandana’s rumoured passing gained traction on social media platforms after some users shared posts stating the Congress leader had died of a heart attack. This led to the hashtag #DivyaSpandana trending as fans sought confirmation on her status.

Spandana Confirms She is Alive and Unaware of Rumours

According to journalist Dhanya Rajendran, she personally spoke to Spandana who clarified she was “sleeping peacefully” in Geneva at the time and was unaware of the false reports. Rajendran denounced the “irresponsible person” who started the rumour and media outlets that published it without verification.

Confusion Potentially Stemmed from Another Woman Sharing her Name

Some have theorized the misinformation may have stemmed from Spandana being confused with another person – Vijay Raghavendra’s wife who shares the same name and passed away last month. However, the origin remains unclear.

Congress Leaders Dismiss Death Claims as False

Leaders of the Tamil Nadu Congress party later tweeted that Spandana was “absolutely fine” and dismissed the rumours as false. Sources close to the former MP additionally confirmed to local media that she is currently on a trip in Geneva but will return to Bengaluru shortly.
