In Mumbai, a man faked a robbery worth Rs 44 lakhs in a desperate bid to teach his spendthrift wife a lesson, and was arrested in the aftermath of the incident. The man told police that his wife didn’t value his hard-earned money, and decided to teach her a lesson.

Amit Mohammad Vora, a 30-year-old event management company owner from Andheri, Mumbai, was arrested on Friday for faking a robbery of Rs 44 lakh. Vora had filed a complaint with the Agripada police station, claiming that two people posing as policemen stopped him and his father, and robbed him of Rs 44 lakh sent by his mother-in-law from Dubai. However, when the police investigated the incident, they found discrepancies in Vora’s story, leading to his confession that he had made up the entire incident to teach his wife a lesson.

The senior police inspector of Agripada police station, Yogendra Pache, said that Vora changed his story and tried to ensure that the location he claimed the robbery took place at had no CCTV coverage. Vora’s father also gave a different version of events when questioned separately. After finding discrepancies in both versions, Vora finally confessed that he had lied about the whole episode.

The police then added relevant sections for false information and criminal breach of trust against Vora and arrested him.

The Facts of the Matter

Spendthrift spouses can cause significant stress and anxiety for their partners. When one partner spends money without considering the impact on the household finances, it can lead to financial instability and disputes. In many cases, the non-spending partner may feel helpless and frustrated as their attempts to control expenses are ignored.

Recently, a Mumbai-based man was arrested for registering a fake complaint, all in a desperate bid to teach his spendthrift wife a lesson.

Husband was Fed Up With Wife’s Spending

During interrogation, Vora revealed that he had a fight with his wife over money, which had been sent from Dubai through a courier to buy a flat. He filed a false complaint to teach his “spendthrift” wife a lesson. The police also recovered the allegedly stolen Rs 44.08 lakh from Vora.

Vora reportedly had a problem with his wife’s spending habits and believed that she did not value his hard-earned money. On February 22, Vora’s mother-in-law informed him that she had sent the cash, and he went to Malad to keep the money in his flat.
