Xiaomi launched its new successor phones for its low budget smartphone series, Redmi 8. The phone was launched on Wednesday 9th October 2019 & its prices start from Rs. 7999/-. It comes in three colour options.
Xiaomi is one of the biggest smartphone sellers in the country. It has a range of smartphones to fulfil the needs of every kind of audience. On Wednesday, Redmi Launched Redmi 8, after launching Redmi 8A, a couple of the week back & successfully selling Redmi 7 phones to a whole lot of people in 2019.
The phone comes with an upgraded battery of 5000 mAh & a better primary & secondary camera. It also features the all-new “Aura Mirror Design” & each has three different colour options for buyers to choose from. Redmi 8 has an inbuilt storage of up to 64 GB which gives it the edge over other phones in this price segment.
While Redmi 8 starts from Rs. 7999/- its low costing predecessor Redmi 8A is priced at Rs. 6499/-, making it tougher to decide which one to buy. So here is a small feature & specification comparison between the two phones.

Differences
The new Redmi 8 price is set at Rs. 7,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage configuration, & Rs. 8999/- for while its 4GB RAM + 64GB storage configuration. However, as an introductory offer, Xiaomi has announced to sell 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of the Redmi 8 at Rs. 7,999. The phone is available in Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue colour options.
On the other hand, the Junior & cheaper version, the Redmi 8A price is available at Rs. 6,499 and Rs. 6,999 for the 2GB RAM + 32GB & 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant respectively. It has three colour options viz Midnight Black, Ocean Blue, and Sunset Red colour options.
The Redmi 8 is a dual-camera phone with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor having aperture f\1.8 & a secondary 2-megapixel camera depth sensor. Redmi 8A, on the other hand, is a single lens setup of 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor only (Aperature f\1.8).
Redmi 8A comes in 2 storage variants of 2GB Ram with 32 GB Storage & 3GB Ram with 64GB Storage while Redmi 8A comes in 2 storage variants of 3GB Ram with 32 GB Storage & 4GB Ram with 64GB Storage.
Further, Redmi 8 has an infrared (IR) blaster and comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor at the back which is not available in Redmi 8A.
Similarities:
Both the phones have an 8-megapixel camera sensor apparatus in the front with an f/2.0 lens for amazing selfie experience. Further, both phones come with an installed Android 9 Pie OS & MiUI 10 with a 6.22-inch HD+ Dot Notch display made with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Both models have the same octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC worth 2 GHz. Both the phones have dual sim slots with 4G LTE capabilities and support storage expansion via microSD card (up to 512GB) through a separate dedicated slot.
Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A, both have support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, wireless FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Both phones are power backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports up to 18W fast charging. The phones come bundled with a 10W charger, though.
The Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A have similar dimensions of 156.48×75.41×9.4mm and both weigh 188 grams.
