Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam was reportedly robbed of Rs 72 lakhs cash at his Oshiwara home in Mumbai. In the aftermath, the senior citizen’s ex-driver was booked under multiple sections of the IPC for the alleged crime. According to reports, the incident took place sometime between the intervening hours of March 19 and March 20. The incident came to the fore when Sonu’s sister Nikita took to the local police to file a complaint.
As per the complaint, Agamkumar Nigam had a driver named Rehan who worked for him for eight months before being removed recently due to poor performance. On Sunday, Agamkumar visited his daughter’s home in the Versova area for lunch and returned after some time.
Later, he called Nikita to inform her that ₹40 lakh was missing from a digital locker kept in a wooden cupboard. The next day, Agamkumar went to his son’s home in 7 Bungalows for some visa-related work and returned in the evening to find another ₹32 lakh missing from the same locker. The locker was not damaged.
Agamkumar Nigam and Nikita checked the CCTV footage of the society and discovered that the former driver, Rehan, had visited Agamkumar’s flat with a bag on both days when he was away.
The Facts of the Matter
It appears that Sonu Nigam can’t catch a break!
Weeks after he was manhandled and attacked on stage during a concert, it appears that now the legendary singer’s father has been robbed of a whopping sum of Rs 72 lakhs. The 49-year-old actor’s father Agamkumar Nigam, complained of having Rs 72 lakhs cash robbed from his home, following which, his daughter, and Sonu’s younger sister, Nikita filed a complaint at the Oshiwara police station

Finding 72 Lakhs Missing in Less Than 48 Hours
As per Nikta’s complaint, earlier on Sunday, his father had come to his house in Versova area for lunch. After returning, his father rang her up, alleging that Rs 40 lakhs had been stolen from his digital locker, kept inside the wooden cupboard. The digital locker was not damaged despite its contents being robbed.
The very next day, Agar and his daughter had gone to Sonu’s house for some visa-related ordeal. On return, Agam was horrified to find that Rs 32 lakhs had once again gone missing from the locker. Agamkumar lost Rs 72 lakhs in the span of less than 48 hours, prompting him to check the CCTV footage of their society.

CCTV Footage Showed Ex-Driver with Bag
On analysing the society CCTV footage, Agarkumar Nigam and his daughter Nikita both saw that their ex-driver Rehaan had been carrying the bag and heading for Agarkumar’s flat on both the days. With confirmed suspicion, Nikita took to the local police, and filed a complaint in the matter.

Driver Booked, Manhunt On
Taking cognizance of the matter, the cops booked Rehaan under multiple sections of the IPC, including Section 380 (Theft), Section 454 (house-trespass or house-breaking), and Section (or house-breaking by night). A manhunt to trace and nab Rehaan has been initiated and is in full swing.
As per reports, Rehaan had been employed as Sonu Nigam’s father’s driver for the last eight months. However, as Rehaan was not good at his job, he was fired.
