The viral video clip, posted on social media by the Hyderabad Traffic Police, depicts Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Dhana Laxmi pulling plastic waste and debris out of a clogged drain outlet near the Tolichowki flyover using just her bare hands. This act of selflessness and civic dedication was prompted after heavy rainfall caused flooding on the road, halting traffic flow and causing public inconvenience. On September 5th, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Dhana Laxmi was filmed manually unclogging a blocked drain near the Tolichowki flyover. The video, shared on social media by the Hyderabad Traffic Police, shows DCP Laxmi pulling out plastic waste and debris from the drain outlet with her bare hands as vehicles struggled to pass on the flooded road.

“Smt D. Dhana Laxmi, ACP Tr South West Zone, cleared the waterlogging by removing the clog at drain water near Tolichowki flyover,” read the caption by the Hyderabad Traffic Police.

The video rapidly went viral, garnering over 250,000 views and nearly 4,000 likes.

The drain unclogging was part of a wider response by Hyderabad authorities to flooding after heavy rains battered Telangana state on September 5th. Four deaths were reported in separate rain-related incidents across the state on that day.

In Hyderabad city, the municipal corporation deployed over 3,000 personnel to tackle waterlogging in low-lying areas. The district collector also declared a holiday for all educational institutions as the city experienced a fresh spell of heavy showers.
