In a shocking incident, a woman in Tripura recently alleged being gang-raped by her husband and two others. She further alleged police inaction following the horrors she was subjected to. The Panisagar police station in North Tripura is currently under fire after the woman alleged that no FIR was registered for four days due to operational jurisdiction issue of the crime.

The victim, a 25-year-old housewife, alleged being gang-raped by her husband earlier on October 26 in a car along with two other men. The woman claimed that the accused abandoned her on a deserted road in Unakoti district and fled the scene. The alleged victim then took to the Kailashahar women’s police station to file the complaint.

However, as the woman belongs to Panisagar, the police contacted the police station in Panisagar, and directed the woman to file a complaint there. The woman claimed that she was harassed at the Panisagar police station as well.

In her conversation with the media persons, the woman alleged that her complaint was not registered at the Panisagar station as she was asked to bring a “no FIR”. “The on-duty police officer declined to register my complaint until I produced a record from Kailashahar,” she was quoted saying.

The news comes after two other gang-rapes in Tripura this month. Earlier this month, a 16-year-old girl was gangraped and another 13-year-old was gangraped on October 16.

The Facts of the Matter

In a harrowing news, a woman in Tripura alleged being gang-raped by her husband and 2 others. She further alleged that she was met with police action as the immediate aftermath of the horrors she was subjected to. The victim in the matter is a 25-year-old housewife, who was allegedly gang-raped by her husband on October 26 in a car, along with two co-accused.

Victim was Evicted After Husband Married the Second Time

As per the woman’s statement, she got married two years ago and was thrown away from her husband’s home after her husband got married for the second time. Earlier this year, her husband got in touch with her and expressed her interest in being with her, claiming that he is considering to divorce his second wife.

The Crime As It Happened

On October 26, she met her husband to have further conversation regarding the same. This was when her husband stuffed her into a car. She alleged that another person and the driver of the car raped her in the presence of the husband. After the two men, the husband also raped her in the car in the presence of the co-accused.

Bureaucracy & Inaction Horror

The accused then allegedly abandoned the woman at a deserted road. She then took to the Kailashahar police station. This is when the woman allegedly met with bureaucracy and police inaction. The woman claimed that her case was not registered in the matter and no investigation was kicked off to nab the accused.

The woman first took to the Kailashahar women’s police station. However, as she belonged to Panisagar, the cops told her to go to the police station with appropriate jurisdiction. When she went to the Panisagar station, she was allegedly harassed.

In her interview with media, the woman alleged being harassed again. She claimed that the cops at the Panisagar station asked her to get a “no FIR report” from the Kailashahar station as the incident had occurred in Kailashahar.

Accused Arrested

Days after the incident, the 30-year-old husband, and alleged accused of the incident, was arrested. The accused was arrested with another person belonging from Kailasahar.
