Ahead of the G20 Summit being held in New Delhi, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak paid a visit to the British Council in India on Friday. During the visit, he interacted with students and staff and was spotted wearing headphones from the Indian brand boAt.

Photos shared by Sunak on Instagram showed him wearing boAt headphones while speaking to students. The images quickly caught the attention of boAt co-founder and CEO Aman Gupta.

“Bharat mein aapka boAt boAt Swagat,” Gupta wrote on Instagram, welcoming Sunak to India and noting his use of the Indian headphone brand. The post has already received tens of thousands of likes and comments praising the marketing moment.

Sunak Expresses Excitement to be Back in India

This is Sunak’s first visit to India since becoming Prime Minister of the UK. Ahead of the G20 Summit, he expressed excitement to be back in India, a country he said is “very near and dear” to him.

“It’s obviously special. I saw somewhere that I was referred to as India’s son-in-law, which I hope was meant affectionately,” Sunak told reporters, referring to his wife Akshata Murty’s Indian origins.

The British Prime Minister was welcomed by Union Minister Ashwini Choubey upon his arrival. Sunak praised India’s hosting of the G20 Summit, calling it a “huge success” and saying India is the “right country at the right time” for the international forum.

Focus on Youth Engagement

Before meeting with world leaders at the G20 Summit, Sunak chose to spend time engaging with Indian youth at the British Council. He called the students he met “world leaders of tomorrow.”

The UK Prime Minister’s use of headphones from an Indian brand founded by young entrepreneurs also signals a focus on youth engagement. As global leaders discuss pressing issues at the summit, the moment highlights the importance of investing in future generations.
