In the aftermath of the Delhi ASI murder, CCTV footage has surfaced showing the ASI being stabbed to death as onlookers simply stand without intervening. Meanwhile, Delhi CM confirmed that the family of the deceased cop will get Rs 1 crore from the state government. The deceased cop was identified as ASI Shambhu Dayal, who died earlier on Sunday after succumbing to injuries he endured on January 4.

On Wednesday, sometime around 4 pm, a woman approached ASI Dayal and sought his help as her phone was snatched by an accused thief. Dayal held 24-year-old Anish Raj for his theft and was bringing him to the police station when the latter attacked the cop with a knife and stabbed him repeatedly on his chest, neck and back.

The CCTV footage that surfaced recently shows ASI Dayal taking the accused to the nearest police station. The officer stops for a second and sees a crowd following him and the accused when the latter whips out a knife that he had kept hidden under his shirt.

The accused then continues to stab the cop mercilessly on his neck, abdomen and back. ASI Dayal tries to defend himself with a stick and the whole ordeal unfolds in public presence, with not a single person coming to the cop’s help.

Days after ASI Shambhu Dayal was stabbed, and succumbed to his injuries, a shocking CCTV footage has surfaced. The CCTV footage shows the collective conscience of a crowd not prompting anyone to help the cop as he continues to be stabbed mercilessly by a man carrying a knife. ASI Shambhu Dayal was stabbed by 24-year-old Anish Raj after he allegedly stole a woman’s mobile phone and the woman sought help from the cop.

The incident took place earlier on January 4 in West Delhi’s Mayapuri area with hair-raising CCTV footage surfacing recently.

What Does the CCTV Footage Show?

The video from January 4 shows ASI Shambhu walking with the thief Anish Raj. The ASI had held Raj for allegedly stealing a woman’s mobile phone. As the two men walk a little further, Anish Raj whips out a knife he had kept hidden in his shirt and repeatedly stabs ASI Dayal. Meanwhile, a large group of people that had gathered before to see what the cop was doing, simply watch him being stabbed, all from a safe distance.

ASI Dayal tries to fight the accused and defends himself with his stick. However, Anish simply runs off from the place. It is only then that the crowd comes out of the trance and chases the accused. A cop overpowers Anish and arrests him.

Delhi CM Kejriwal Announces Rs 1 Crore Compensation

Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to announce a compensation for the family of the deceased cop “ASI Shambhu ji did not even care for his own life while protecting the people. He is a martyr. We are proud of him. His life was invaluable but we will give his family Rs 1 crore to honour him,” Kejriwal’s tweet read, as quoted by Indian Express.

ASI Dayal was the Sole Bread Earner

As per the reports, ASI Dayal was posted at Mayapuri police station and had received a complaint from a woman alleging that a man had stolen a phone from her. Later, the ASI himself took to the slums in the area where the accused, Anish Raj, whipped out a knife and attacked him.

ASI Dayal had served in the Delhi Police for almost 30 years. He joined the Delhi Police back in 1993 as a constable after moving from Rajasthan’s Sikar. As a sole bread earner of the family, Dayal used to send money to his family in their native village.
