In a shocking incident reported from Goa, a woman reportedly killed her 1.5-year-old daughter, and was rescued after she tried to drown herself in a river. The incident was reported from South Goa and occurred earlier on wee hours of Saturday morning.
According to reports, the woman in question had also tried to take her life by slashing her wrists, and then tried to kill herself by jumping into the Zuari river. She was however spotted by some construction workers, who rushed and rescued her. She was subsequently rushed to the Goa Medical College (GMC) for treatment.
The accused woman is 34-years-old and had come to her parents’ home in South Goa’s Chicalim after living several years in Germany. She was identified as Nimisha Valsan.
A NDTV report quoted police officer, Kapil Nayak saying, “Around 5 am today, the woman identified as Nimisha Valsan, strangled her 18-month-old daughter. After that, she went to her neighbours and sought the key of their car, which they gave.”
After that the woman drove the car towards a bridge, stepped out if it, and jumped into the Zuari river. Some workers at the bridge spotted her and rushed to her rescue.
The incident comes a day after a woman in Bengaluru threw her mentally challenged 4-year-old daughter from the building’s 4th floor.
The Facts of the Matter
On Saturday, a woman from South Goa’s Chicalim tried to take her life after killing her eighteen-month-old daughter by strangling her. According to the police, the woman had earlier tried to slash her wrists, and then jumped off a bridge over the Zuari river, Goa’s largest river.
Some construction workers were around the spot when the spotted the woman jumping to her death, and quickly rushed to rescue her. The woman was rushed to the Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital for further treatment.

Woman had Come to India from Germany
The woman in question was identified as 34-year-old Nimisha Valsan. Valsan had been living for years in Germany, and had come back to India recently at her parent’s place in South Goa’s Chicalim.
Police officer Kapil Nayak gave more details about the case and was quoted in an NDTV report saying, “Around 5 am today, the woman identified as Nimisha Valsan, strangled her 18-month-old daughter. After that, she went to her neighbours and sought the key of their car, which they gave.”

Driving to Bridge, Unsuccessful Bid to End Life
After taking the keys, the woman drove about 5 km to a bridge from where she jumped into the river. Her bid to take her life was unsuccessful as some constriction workers rescued her.
According to reports, the cause of the woman’s actions towards her newborn daughter is still to be ascertained. However, she has been booked under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC, and under the Goa Children’s Act at the Vasco Police Station.
The police officials stated that the accused woman’s husband was employed abroad and she had come back to India after living with him.

Bengaluru Woman Throws Daughter from 4th Floor
The horrific incident comes just a day after a woman in Bengaluru threw her daughter from the 4th floor of her residential building. The accused woman threw her 4-year-old daughter from the 4th floor of the building in Bengaluru’s SR Nagar.
The entire ordeal was caught on video, visuals of which went viral. The distressing video also showed the woman jumping on the ledge of the iron railings and contemplating taking her own life. However, she was spotted by her neighbours who rushed to rescue her.
