In a fascinating news, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma’s video of grooming to Summer of ‘69’, reached to Anand Mahindra who invited him with his guitar. While several political leaders have in the past used pop culture references and memes to achieve the “cool quotient”, the Meghalaya CM’s recent appearance on stage has automatically made him a star for people.
For the unversed, Summer of 69 was released in 1985 by Canadian musician Bryan Adams. The song instantly became popular among youths and achieved the cult status in the last decade.
Background
There are only a handful of politicians in India who not only achieve cult status due to their political prowess, but also through their talents outside politics. Former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was one of the biggest BJP leaders and was a fantastic poet and orator. Similarly, lyricist Javed Akhtar was an MP and was known to give hair-raising speeches in the parliament.
Recently, a video has been making the rounds of internet in which Meghalaya CM is grooving to one of the most popular songs of the 90s.
The Facts of the Matter
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is a man with several caps. The 43-year-old politician is academically one of the most learned political leaders – a graduate from Wharton School, USA and a postgraduate from London’s Imperial College. He’s also a learned political maverick having worked for his father during his days at the NCP.
However, little do most know that Conrad Sangma is also a music geek in his own right.
Recently, a video of him grooving to Bryan Adam’s Summer of 69 is making rounds on the internet. The Meghalaya CM looked totally in his element, without a second of awkwardness about him in the 1.43-minute video that was shared on Twitter. The National People’s Party president hit all the right notes and sang on the perfect pitch with a group of musicians around him.
