Meet Safiyya Riyadh and her husband Adam

Recently, a mom-of-three from London, UK – along with her husband – is making buzz for projecting a turnover of £1.5 million (Rs. 15 crores) for her business that may sound strange to someone. Safiyya Riyadh and her husband Adam are proud co-founders of Magenta Flowers, a brand that makes jewellery out of breast milk.

The couple initially started selling accessories that were made out of flowers used during occasional flowers. The accessories gave people a chance to immortalize certain memories and occasions of their lives.

An Idea Can Change Your Life

In 2020, during lockdown, Safiyya read an article about breast milk being an increasingly sought-after component to make jewellery. A bulb lit in the heads of Safiyya and Adam and they decided to do more research and implement the same in their own work.

With enough effort and research, Safiyya perfected the process of dehydrating breast milk. The dehydrated power was then mixed with high-quality resin, and the first batch of jewellery made out of breast milk was created.

Breast Milk a “Hidden Gem”

Safiyya talked to prominent UK-based daily Mirror and said how the breast milk is like “hidden gem”.

“I feel there is so much stigma around breast milk and in some cases breastfeeding in public that for me, it is almost like a hidden gem. It provides a sentimental connection between mothers and their babies and celebrates that cherished bond”, she was quoted saying.

So far, Magenta Flowers has delivered earrings, rings, and other accessories made with breast milk to 4,000 people. What started with just Safiyya and Adam, has now shaped into a well-oiled machinery of a business with 10 more employees.
