Earlier on Wednesday, low-cost airline carrier SpiceJet confirmed to have impacted by a ransomware attack that led to delay in several flights. Further, hundreds of passengers reported being hassled by the random cyber-attack.

SpiceJet’s official handle on Twitter confirmed the ransomware attack and tweeted – “Certain SpiceJet systems faced an attempted ransomware attack last night that impacted and slowed down morning flight departures today. The “operating normally now” part irked lot of netizens who flooded Twitter with claims of being stuck at airports, facing flight delays, and even being stuck inside airplane. Twitter user Mudit Shejwar shared a video from inside the airplane and wrote a caption along the video that read – “Operating normally?? We are stuck here since 3 hrs and 45 mins? Neither cancelling nor operating, sitting in the flight not even the airport. No breakfast, no response!”.

Meanwhile, passengers at airports complained that the ground staff were having no solution to the issues at hand and were simply informing that the “server was down”.

SpiceJet was in the news a few days back after the ATC stopped its flights from taking off from the Delhi airport after the airline failed to make payments to the Airport Authority of India.
