In a horrific incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, a minor rape survivor’s house was allegedly set ablaze by accused men, out on bail, resulting in two infants being critically injured in the incident. The blood-curdling incident was reported from Unnao district and occurred earlier on Monday. The accused in the matter, identified as Aman (18) and Satish (26), have been on bail, released two months ago, police said.

Two gangrape accused, out on bail, allegedly set fire to the house of a 14-year-old victim, with the help of their associates, on Monday. One of the infants, a four-month-old boy, is the child born out of the gangrape, and the other is the teenage victim’s three-month-old sister. Tragically, the children suffered 30% and 40% burn injuries, respectively, and their condition is described as critical.

Reports indicate that the incident is related to a gangrape that occurred on February 13, 2022, for which three individuals – Aman, Satish, and Arun – were arrested and sent to jail. Satish and Arun were later released on bail, and the incident on Monday involved them and their associates.

The family of the teenage gangrape victim has claimed that they were being pressured by the family of the accused to withdraw the case. Both the victim and the accused belong to the Dalit community.

The Facts of the Matter

Victims of sexual assault often face immense pressure from the accused and their families to withdraw their cases, putting them at further risk of harm. Unfortunately, this pressure often leads to victims being subjected to more crimes, including physical assault, harassment, and even murder.

A recent incident in a village in Unnao district, India, highlights the devastating consequences of such pressure, as two gangrape accused, out on bail, allegedly set fire to the house of a 14-year-old victim, leaving two infants with serious burn injuries.

Victim’s Mother Recounts Experience

The victim’s mother recalled the harrowing experience, stating that the accused kept threatening them to withdraw the case. She and her daughter were beaten up, and the children were thrown into the fire. She watched in horror as her and her daughter’s children got burnt.

“Roshan, Satish, Ranjit, Raj Bahadur, Chandan, and Sukhdeen beat me up and my daughter and set our house on fire in which two children suffered burns. Another person Aman was also involved in this” the victim’s mother was quoted saying.

The incident is related to a gangrape that took place on February 13, 2022. Three people, including the two accused who were out on bail, were arrested and sent to jail. As per the victim’s family, Satish and Arun, who were released on bail two months ago, had been pressurizing them to withdraw the case.
