In a horrifying moment caught on cam, a man was attacked with a dumbbell in gym due to a row over bench press. Following the attack, the man had to get 60 stitches across his face. According to reports, the incident took place earlier in Pattaya, Thailand and occurred on May 17. Visuals of the incident were caught on CCTV camera installed at the gym and are now going viral on social media.
The victim, Gary Reed (46), suffered the brunt force of 1 kg weighing dumbbell after it was launched on his face by a fellow gym goer. Reportedly, the attacker had complained to Reed that he was waiting to use the bench press since a while. Reed asked the man to let him complete his set and use one of the several bench presses available.
However, the furious fitness fanatic rushed towards Reed with a 7-inch long 1 kg weighing metal dumbbell and smacked him on the head from behind. Shocking visuals show how Reed tried to get a handle on the situation despite being assaulted.
He locked his attacker in a bear hug and the attacker soon fled the scene of crime.

Everyday countless fitness enthusiasts across the world take to gyms to get one step closer to their fitness goals. At the gym, performing bench press is one of the most mundane activities for every gym-goer. However, a man in Thailand was recently attacked because of a row he had with a fellow gym goer over bench press.
46-year-old Gary Reed was reportedly attacked by a 1 kg dumbbell which was smashed on his face by a fellow furious fitness fanatic. Reportedly, the man attacked him after Reed refused to give up his bench press till, he was not done with his set.
Shocking visuals of the incident shows how calmly the attacker smashed a dumbbell on the victim’s face.

What Does the Video Show?
The over a minute-long video of the incident shows Reed and the attacker engaged in a conversation. Presuming by the gestures, the two appear to be arguing about the bench press. For a second, the attacker leaves the frame, and within a second, lunges forward and calmly smashes the dumbbell on Reed’s head from behind.
Unfazed by the attack, the victim springs up on his feet and the two have an altercation away from the CCTV camera. The camera again shows the victim locking the attacker in a bear hug to stop him from making any further sudden attacks.
The video also shows multiple gymgoers standing like mute spectators as the fight is breaking out in front of them.

60 Stitches, Bleeding on Retina, Right Eye Socket Fractured
According to reports, the victim rushed to the police station, who redirected him to a hospital seeing his bloodied face. At the hospital he received 60 stitches on his face. He further suffered a fractured right eye socket and bleeding on his retina.
To make sure that there are no hidden internal bleeds in brain or any brain injury, he will also get a CT scan done. Reportedly, he has paid £579 (over Rs. 55 thousand) as his medical fees and may have to pay further if there’s a need for surgery.

Attacker Already Identified
Reed was quoted in a Daily Mail report saying, “I’ve been left with a big hospital bill, so he needs to pay for that. I want the police to catch him so he can’t do this to anyone else”. The police have reportedly identified the attacker based on the gym’s membership log. They appealed to the attacker to come forward and explain his side of the narrative.
