The shocking video shows an orangutan grabbing a zoo visitor by his t-shirt. Things take a change for worse in no time as the orangutan goes on to grab the visitor by his leg. The man’s friend tries to pull him out of the grip of the enraged ape, but to no avail. Soon a furious tug-of-war ensues between the visitor and the ape and the orangutan can be seen in the video in no mood to let go of the man’s leg.
The attacked person hangs by the animal enclosure and the video somehow ends abruptly. While many netizens initially wondered what became of the attacked person, a second video soon emerged. The second video showed the man escaping after the ape tried to bite his foot.
Earlier last month, a similar shocking video emerged where a man ended up having his fingers bitten off by a lion as a consequence of teasing the big cat who was behind the enclosure.
The Facts of the Matter
“Orangutan” comes from Malay and Bahasa Indonesian words – orang, meaning person, and hutan, meaning forest and the word literally translating to – “person of forest”. However, what happens when a person of forest meets a rather ‘civilized’ person of the city?
In Indonesia, a man instantly paid the price of jumping over a guardrail around an orangutan enclosure after the ape almost broke his leg by grabbing him from behind the cage. The incident was reported from Kasang Kulim Zoo, Indonesia, and visuals of the incident have been making rounds of social media.

What Does the Video Show?
The hair-raising video shows a man reaching out to the orangutan behind the cage with his two hands. In lightning-fast speed, the ape grabs the man’s white t-shirt and effortlessly drags him towards the cage. The man shrieks in fear and another man emerges in the frame, to help the man now in the grasp of the ape.
A tug of war soon ensues between the two and for the ape, the prize seems to be the man’s leg. The primate holds tight to the man’s leg and drags him back. At one point, both the man’s legs are in the air as the primate attempts to bite the knee off. The video ends abruptly at this point.
In a second video, the man somehow slips out of the orangutan’s tight grip. However, by the end, the ape tightly holds on to the man’s ankle and brings the man’s feet inches close to its mouth, before the ankle too slips out of its hands.
