Real-life Wonder Woman Eksha Kerung is an inspiration to countless. A cop in Sikkim, she is also a supermodel, a boxer, and a biker. The barely 21-year-old woman is already sporting a cap with different feathers. In a country, where girls continue to fight tooth and nail to mark their place, Eksha is an inspiration to not just women, but to families who support young ambitious women as well.
As per a recent News18 report, Eksha hails from a small village called Rumbuk located in Sikkim’s Soreng subdivision. A part of Sikkim police, she was recruited earlier in 2019. With a flair for modeling and a childhood where she was pushed to do combat training, Eksha made the buzz earlier by entering the top 9 contestants in popular reality show MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2.
As per a Brut India video, it was Eksha’s father who motivated and supported her dreams. When she was a teen, her father introduced her to combat sports to maintain fitness and channel her aggression. With him by the side, Eksha continued to grow and excel in life. She even represented her state in boxing at the national level.
Earlier Mahindra Group’s Anand Mahindra had lauded Eksha by tweeting, “Eksha puts Wonder Woman in the shade!”.

In India, girls and women continue to fight patriarchy and in process, have shattered one glass ceiling after the other. Today we will be talking about one such woman named Eksha Kerung. A go getter, if there was one, she is a cop, supermodel, boxer, and a biker!

While many spend their lives just achieving one dream, Eksha has been going one dream after the other, and realizes them thanks to her will, efforts and support from the family.
Early Years of Eksha Kerung
As per reports, Eksha hails from a small village called Rumbuk in Sikkim’s Soreng subdivision. As a child, Eksha exhibited traits of being an ambitious person, and was willing to pour her blood, sweat and tears to fulfill her dreams. Her father saw her go-getter attitude, and put her in contact-sport training.
The training was for two reasons – fitness, and channelizing emotions like aggression, fear, and hunger for victory. The next few years, she continued on her journey of boxing, and started excelling in the same. So much so, that she represented Sikkim at the national level.

Being Recruited in Sikkim Police
Meanwhile, when she was just 19, she got recruited in Sikkim Police. Thanks to her training in combat sports, she was able to sustain and thrive at the 14-month training before being posted to the State Reserve Line. In an interview, she mentioned how having a state government job in a small town holds a huge value, and she is the sole bread winner of her family.

Auditioning for MTV Supermodel of the Year
Eksha had been nursing one dream since long. She wanted to do modeling and used to share the ambition with her mother. After some encouragement and motivation from her family and peers, she auditioned for the second season of the MTV Supermodel of the Year.

Not only did she get selected in the audition, she was among the top 9 contestants. In one of the rounds of the show, Malaika Arora Khan, one of the panelists, gave Eksha a standing ovation and said, “These are women we need to salute.”

Earlier, Mahindra Group’s Anand Mahindra had also taken to Twitter and lauded Eksha’s efforts by tweeting, “Eksha puts Wonder Woman in the shade!”.
