In a lawsuit over rejection case, a Singaporean man recently sued a woman for a whopping $3 million for reportedly ‘friend zoning’ him. The man, identified as K Kawshigan, filed two lawsuits against a woman identified as Nora Tan, after she ended up rejecting his romantic advances and chose to only remain friends with her. The man has filed lawsuits, claiming she caused him “emotional trauma” for wanting to only remain friends with him.

According to reports, K Kawshigan works as the director of a drone company. Kawshigan met Tan in 2016 and started expressing his feelings towards her. However, when she rejected his advances, Kawshigan filed two lawsuits against her. According to reports, Kawshigan had put the lawsuit on hold earlier as Tan accepted to attend counselling sessions with him for a year and a half. However, when after a year and a half Tan continued to reject his romantic advances, he sued her.

The first lawsuit was filed in the high court, seeking $2.3 million for “damage to his stellar reputation” and causing “emotional drama”. Meanwhile, the second lawsuit was filed at a magistrates’ court, seeking $16,700 for breaching an agreement to improve the relationship.

The second lawsuit was dismissed with the court ruling that they two were just friends with Kawshigan thinking that their relationship was romantic.

Woman’s Perspective, Court Outcome

It should be noted that the second suit was dismissed by the court which observed that Kawshigan was making a “calculated attempt to compel engagement” from Nora and called the suit “manifestly groundless and without foundation”.

As per a New York Post report, Nora considered Kawshigan as one of her “closest friend” and was forced into stepping back and cutting off ties with him so that he could be “self-reliant”. This prompted Kawshigan to move forward with a lawsuit, claiming “monetary damages arising from negligent infliction of emotional distress and possible defamation”.

The first lawsuit still remains, and will be heard later on February 9.
