Sulemana Abdul Samed a man from Ghana claimed to be the world’s tallest man at a dizzying 9ft 6in height. However, on further investigation, the man’s real heigh was revealed, and his claim to fame seems to be diminishing by the day. This is the story of Sulemana, also famously known as ‘Awuche’, who disputed to be the tallest man in the world, only to have his claim brushed aside.

For centuries, the stories of the biggest, largest, baddest, tallest and meanest, have piqued the curiosity of many. So, when Sulemana Abdul Samed’s claim of being the world’s tallest man, at 9ft 6in height surfaced, many were shocked, startled, and speculative. When news media giant BBC heard the murmurs about a man in Ghana making the ‘gigantic’ claims, their team went to Sulemana to settle the debate once and for all.

On reaching at the 29-year-old’s doorstep, they found out that he was told about growing over 9ft tall during a recent checkup. To clear the air, BBC brought a 16ft long tape, made him stand without shoes, with back to the wall.

The real result was shockingly underwhelming, at least for Sulemana, wo found out that he was 7ft 4in tall.

The current record holder for tallest man in the world is Sultan Kösen at 8ft 1in tall.

The Facts of the Matter

A ‘huge’ feud has surfaced between ‘giants’ of their respective fields. Pardon the pun, but it appears that the ‘World’s Tallest Living Man’ title is being disputed by a man, whose dreams, if BBC’s investigation is taken into account, were recently squashed. A man in Ghana, who was living under the illusion of being the tallest living man in the world, has been told his real height. And while the man is not short by long margin, he is still not the tallest in the world.

Who is Sulemana Abdul Samed?

Sulemana Abdul Samed considered himself to be the tallest as 9ft 6in tall. When he was 22, the now 29-year-old man from Ghana, was diagnosed with gigantism. Shockingly enough, after being diagnosed, Sulemana continues to grow, throwing the nurses and medical staff who measure him, in tizzy.

Later, a clinic in Ghana reaffirmed his opinion of him being the tallest in the world. The Ghana-based clinic measured Sulemana to be over nine-and-a-half feet tall. To put this into perspective, if the measurement was true, Sulemana would be the tallest man in the world by a long margin, as currently Sultan Kosen is the tallest at 8ft 1in tall.

BBC Gets Murmurs of Speculations

To see what the fuss was all about, and whether or not it was true, they sent a team to measure Sulemana’s height.

Real Height of Sulemana Revealed

As per an Economic Times report, the staff at a local clinic again tried several ways to measure Samed, including having him stand next to a huge pole and a stick. This dubious way was brushed aside when BBC journalist brought a 16-foot long tape and measured Sulemana.

Sulemana eventually measured to be 7ft 4in tall.
