Controversial Bollywood actor Kamal R Khan was earlier arrested for his 2020 tweets against late actor Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. While it’s still unclear as to what the tweets in question were, Twitter is flooded with screenshots of the ‘Deshdrohi’ actor’s tweets where he made a comment regarding Rishi Kapoor’s hospitalization.

KRK, who is often a fodder for trolls with his derogatory tweets and bashful reviews he shares on his YouTube channel. According to reports, KRK was arrested earlier on Tuesday after he landed on the Mumbai airport. He is scheduled to be produced before the magistrate court in Borivali later on Tuesday.

According to an Indian Express report, KRK was arrested under IPC Section 500 (Punishment for defamation), and Section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups). He was also charged with Section 67 A of the IT Act for transmitting obscene content.

The arrest comes after Shiv Senas’s youth wing member Rahul Kanal filed a complaint with the police. “Khan makes derogatory comments on social media and uses foul language. Such kind of behaviour is unacceptable in society. By arresting him, the Mumbai police have sent out a strong message against such people and no one would repeat this in future with any citizen,” Rahul said after the arrest

KRK Arrested, Will be Produced Before Court

On Tuesday, the Mumbai police arrested KRK for his allegedly derogatory remarks against now deceased Bollywood actors Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan.

In a statement to ANI, Mumbai Police said, “Kamal Rashid Khan was arrested after he landed at Mumbai Airport. He will be presented before Borivali Court today”. The actor was arrested from the Mumbai airport earlier on Tuesday.

What Charges was KRK Arrested On?

Khan was arrested and booked under multiple sections of Indian Penal Code and IT Act. He was booked under IPC Section 500 (defamation), and Section 153A which pertains to promoting enmity. He was also booked under Section 67A of IT Act.

Shiv Sena Youth member had Filed Complaint

The arrest comes after a Shiv Sena youth wing member filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police against KRK. “Khan makes derogatory comments on social media and uses foul language. Such kind of behaviour is unacceptable in society. By arresting him, the Mumbai police have sent out a strong message against such people and no one would repeat this in future with any citizen,” Rahul Kanal, Shiv Sena Youth Wing member said.

It should be noted that the complaint was filed in 2020, when COVID-19 pandemic had engulfed the entire country and had wrecked its havoc.

KRK’s Tweets Against Irrfan Khan & Rishi Kapoor?

In one of the screenshots of KRK’s tweets from April 30, 2020, KRK mentioned that he knew that Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor “will go”.

“Just on a serious note, I said few days ago that #Corona can’t go back without taking a few famous people. I didn’t write names at that time because people could’ve abused me. But I knew that Irrfan and Rishi will go. And I know, who is the next one also,” his tweet read.

“Rishi Kapoor has admitted to HN Reliance Hospital. And I want to say to him:- Sir Theek Hokar Jadi Wapis Aana! Nikal Mat Lena! Kyon ki Daaru Ki Dukaan 2-3 Din Mein Khulne Hi Wali Hai,” another one of his tweets read.
